The United States Power Soccer Association (USPSA) is proud to announce the "Ben Carpenter Academic Achievement Award" for power soccer players. This award is open to all high school, college, trade school, and vocational training students who are full-time students during the 2022-2023 academic year. The application includes the eligibility requirements and all eligible players will be recognized at the 2023 Conference Cup Tournament.

Ben Carpenter, who passed away in December 2019, was a legendary figure in the world of power soccer. He started his power soccer career in 2004 and quickly became a staple in the sport, representing Team USA in the 2014 COPA America in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and helping bring home the gold. Carpenter went on to compete in the 2017 World Cup and the 2019 COPA America, earning another gold medal. He was selected to represent Team USA in the 2022 World Cup before his untimely passing.

Not only was Carpenter a skilled athlete, but he was also known for his leadership and sportsmanship. He was dedicated to spreading the word about power soccer and helping educate and train young athletes and coaches through clinics. His impact on the sport and his fellow athletes was immense, and his legacy will continue to live on through the Ben Carpenter Academic Achievement Award.

In addition to his power soccer career, Carpenter was an Imagineer Associate Show Mechanical Designer for Disney, where he lived his dream of designing amusement park rides. He was a true inspiration and will always be remembered for his determination, passion, and commitment to the sport of power soccer.

The Ben Carpenter Academic Achievement Award is a fitting tribute to a man who inspired so many and will be remembered as one of the best power soccer athletes and ambassadors of the sport. We encourage all eligible power soccer players to apply for this award and continue Ben's legacy.
